By bike in Entre-Deux-Mers
Passing through such far-famed villages and bastide towns as Cadillac, Créon, La Sauve-Majeure and its UNESCO-listed abbey, Saint-Macaire, Sainte-Croix du Mont and Sauveterre de Guyenne is a foretaste of the many delights that this land – this “little Tuscany” – has in store for you.
For cyclists, this is an invitation to journey through ever-changing landscapes
along cycle paths and little-used byroads with no hills to climb.
Entre-Deux-Mers is ideal for in-depth cultural discovery of a multicoloured winegrowing terroir – a serene experience to be enjoyed as a family or in the company of friends.
On the Roger Lapébie cycle path
This emblematic route bears the name of one of the region’s native sons – Roger Lapébie, celebrated winner of the 1937 Tour de France. The greenway was laid out on the ballast of the railway line that once linked Latresne to Sauveterre-de-Guyenne (50 km). The old stations along the route have been transformed into restaurants, bike stations or wine bars, providing opportunities for cultural or gastronomic stop-offs along the way.
Créon bike station
It was in Créon, in Entre-deux-Mers and not for from Bordeaux, that France’s first bike station was created.
Located alongside the Roger Lapébie greenway, the station is also France’s top cycling relay point and Entre-deux-Mers’ leading bicycling ambassador.
Créon bike station provides a full range of services to meet the needs of cyclotourists, including hire of bicycles, mountain bikes and tandems for adults and children, by the day or half-day. It is also equipped with a car park, along with picnic and camping-car areas and facilities for hosting events.
