“Route de la Corniche Fleurie”
Simply take the D 669E 1 as you leave Bourg and carry straight on. The spell works instantaneously!
A series of picturesquely named localities (Pain de sucre, Marmisson and Roque de Thau among them) takes you past huts built on piles, from which the traditional square fishing-nets are cast, fishermen’s houses, and 15th and 17th -century troglodytic dwellings nestling in the limestone cliffs.
Colourful gardens complete the magic, running down to the Estuary and filled with pink bay trees, palms and banana trees.
At the end of this journey through time and space, you come to the Bec d’Ambès, where the Dordogne and the Garonne meet. This is the birthplace of the Gironde Estuary.
Explanatory panels along the way help give you a better understanding of the Estuary’s history, geography, environment and heritage.
