Verdon-sur-Mer
Under the watchful eye of the
Cordouan Lighthouse, Le Verdon is first of all the Pointe de Grave, a magical spot where the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the River Gironde meet and mingle.
Then there are the vast beaches
of fine sand along the Atlantic coast, forests and marshes crisscrossed by cycling paths and hiking trails; and finally, Port-Médoc, a marina with moorings for 800 craft.
La Chambrette, Saint Nicolas and Port-Médoc beaches have all been awarded the Blue Flag label.

Discovery idea: Visit to the Cordouan Lighthouse.
Listed as a Historical Monument in 1862, the Cordouan Lighthouse is nicknamed the “Versailles of the sea” (it contains a chapel dedicated to King Louis XIV). It is Europe’s oldest lighthouse (16th century).
Located 7 km from Verdon-sur-Mer, the lighthouse can be visited from April to October, aboard a fast motor launch departing from Pointe de Grave (the crossing takes 30 minutes).
Duration of excursion: about 4 hours.
Watch out: you’ll get your feet wet when disembarking!
