It’s ideal for learning how to sail – it was here that the famous 420 and 470 Olympic dinghies of the 1960s were developed.

It’s also a favourite with families, who can bathe in its waters in complete safety.

Its perfectly preserved natural environment of wild marshland, white sand dunes and forest lend it a charm all of its own, to be enjoyed on foot or by mountain bike.

On the right shore of the lake, the Domaine des Sports et de Loisirs de Bombannes organises tennis, kayaking, archery, climbing and surfing lessons, and also hires out sailing boats and windsurf boards.
