Bacchus accommodation

To offer a customised discovery of the different vineyards in the Gironde, the Gironde County Tourist Board has clubbed together with the Gîtes de France, Logis de France and Clévacances networks to develop and promote a specific type of accommodation: “Bacchus” gîtes and B&Bs, or to date 36 accredited residences,  all located on wine estates  in the Gironde.

Only members of the “Vignobles et Chais en Bordelais” charter can apply for Bacchus certification.

In order to meet the requirements of this quality stamp, vinegrowers/hosts must fulfil several obligations with regard to their guests:

-  give them a free bottle or glass of wine on arrival;
-  provide them with exhaustive documentation on the whole Gironde wine region as well as wine tasting facilities in their lodgings;
-  guide them in finding out about the wine and vine professions with a tour of the estate, tasting session, etc.
-  give them a list of contacts and addresses of other vinegrowers located in another area of the Gironde.

This guide is published by the Gironde County Tourist Board and suggests combining visits of wine properties (châteaux, cooperative cellars and wine centres) with tourist outings.
It only lists those wine properties adhering to the “Vignobles et Chais en Bordelais ®” quality charter. You can also find all the information you need to organise your stay in the Gironde wine region: its history, wine châteaux that can be visited, accommodation, local festivals, wine museums and much more.

This guide is also available at the Maison du Tourisme de la Gironde  as well as in all Tourist Information Offices in the Gironde.
