Most of these are free – along with all the information you need to organise outings. The selection suggested by the Gironde County Tourist Board is not exhaustive. It is worth contacting the Tourist Information Offices in each area to find out what specific activities are being put on.
Zoom on the Assiettes and Cafés de Pays
These two enjoyable concepts are a perfect way to indulge in the authentic flavours of the Gironde:
- An Assiette de Pays is a single savoury, sweet or sweet and sour dish exclusively made up of local produce (duck, Bazas beef, oysters, shad, asparagus, etc.).
Cafés de Pays are run by people who are big fans of their region, history and local traditions. They serve Assiette de Pays dishes, together with wine chosen from among local AOCs, and can tell you all about what there is to see and do in the region.
